Virtual office Hong Kong: the registered address every company needs, and what it should cost

A virtual office in Hong Kong gives your company a real Hong Kong business address for company registration and mail, without renting desk space. Packages typically run from about HK$1,200 a month with mail handling and phone answering; address-only plans can be found for less. The reason they exist is legal: Hong Kong’s Companies Ordinance requires every company to keep a registered office address in Hong Kong, and a PO box does not qualify. Nextspace is Hong Kong’s free office broker. Below is what the law requires, what each tier includes, how it fits company formation, and the one catch that trips up new companies, the bank account.

What you actually get, by tier

Registered address only

A compliant Hong Kong address for company registration and official mail. The entry point, and the cheapest.

Address plus mail handling

Your post is received, scanned or forwarded, and you are notified. The tier most small companies actually want.

Address plus phone answering

A local Hong Kong number answered in your company name, with messages passed on.

Address plus meeting rooms

Book a real room in the building by the hour to meet a client, an auditor, or the bank.

Company secretary and incorporation

A Hong Kong company also needs a company secretary from day one, so most providers bundle the address, secretary and filing together.

The catch nobody mentions: your bank account

Hong Kong banks scrutinise a company’s address closely when you open a corporate account. An address a bank recognises as a shared or mass-market virtual office can slow or block account opening, because banks treat it as a higher money-laundering risk and have spent years de-risking exactly this profile. It does not mean you should avoid a virtual office. It means the address you choose matters: a reputable business-centre address in a real commercial building, run by a TCSP-licensed provider and used by a manageable number of companies, is treated very differently from a budget address shared by thousands. If a corporate account is on your near-term list, tell the provider up front so you land at an address banks are comfortable with.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Using a virtual office address as your registered office is legal, provided it is a genuine Hong Kong address that can receive official correspondence and the provider is TCSP-licensed. A PO box does not qualify.

You can, but the choice of address matters. Hong Kong banks scrutinise shared and mass-market addresses, which can slow or block account opening. A reputable, licensed business-centre address is treated far more favourably. Tell the provider you will be opening an account.

Address-only plans are the cheapest; full packages with mail handling and phone answering typically start from about HK$1,200 a month. Confirm what each ‘from’ price includes.

A virtual office is an address and services with no physical space. A serviced office is a private, staffed office you actually occupy, which already comes with a registered address included.
