The Center is the 73 storey tower at 99 Queen's Road Central, 346 metres tall, built between 1995 and 1998 by Cheung Kong and the Land Development Corporation. Its 57 office floors are numbered from the ninth to the 79th, the plan is column free and a standard floor is about 26,000 sq ft. Cheung Fat Garden, at the foot of the building, is public open space. The bars of neon on the facade change colour through the night, which is how most of Hong Kong recognises the building.
Sheung Wan is the nearer station at 410 metres, five minutes on foot on the Island line. Hong Kong station is 490 metres, six minutes, for the Airport Express and the Tung Chung line, so the building sits about halfway between two stations. Central Market is next door at 93 Queen's Road Central with more than 100 food and retail stalls, and the Central to Mid-Levels escalator begins across the road at number 100.
Regus sells private offices, coworking space and meeting room time in this tower. Rooms are furnished and hold one person to more than twenty. A service agreement covers them, not a lease: three month minimum, two month deposit, three months' notice. A room for one is HK$7,500 a month, a room for four is 130 sq ft at HK$30,000, and a seat on the coworking floor is HK$4,200. A Regus contract also carries business lounge access across the IWG network in more than 120 countries.
The lifts are zoned through a sky lobby, so visitors change cars part way up; that change is the one drawback for visitors. A low building such as Dina House is one ride straight up. Neither walk from the stations is covered. The escalator across the road runs uphill into SoHo from half past ten in the morning. For lunch, the choice runs from the cooked food stalls on Queen Victoria Street to the IFC restaurants. Our search costs you nothing: the operator pays our fee when a deal completes.
