AIA Central stands at 1 Connaught Road Central, 185 metres over 37 storeys with 26 floors of offices. Skidmore, Owings and Merrill designed it and it opened in 2005, on the site of the Furama Kempinski Hotel, which came down in December 2001. Lai Sun Development, CapitaLand and American International Group own it between them. There are 450,000 sq ft of offices in it and a floor runs 13,000 to 15,000 sq ft lettable. A pedestrian bridge links the tower into Hong Kong's elevated walkway network.
Central station is 360 metres away, five minutes on foot, out of Exit J3, for the Island and Tsuen Wan lines. Admiralty is 630 metres, eight minutes, and adds the East Rail and South Island lines.
The Executive Centre holds Level 15, a full floor of 13,562 sq ft net, and says it looks over Victoria Harbour and Kowloon. It counts the building as the first in Hong Kong to earn LEED Silver certification. A furnished room takes one person, or more than twenty. The commitment is a three month service agreement, with a two month deposit and three months' notice. A room for one is HK$12,950 a month and a room for four is 215 sq ft at HK$38,800. A seat in the members lounge is HK$4,000. There are two meeting rooms, a barista bar in the lounge and access at any hour.
AIA Central's footbridge joins the Admiralty walkway system, which is not connected to the Central one, so the covered walk goes east towards Admiralty, not west to the International Finance Centre. For lunch, east is covered. West, the Central walkway network carrying The Landmark and Central Market starts a short walk away at Jardine House.
