The Hong Kong Club Building stands at 3A Chater Road, between Chater Road and Connaught Road Central at the Jackson Road junction. Harry Seidler designed it and it was finished in 1984. The Hong Kong Club owns it and occupies about 80,000 sq ft over the lower eight levels, with its dining rooms and bars on the four podium floors. Floors 7 to 21 are let to companies, law firms and other organisations. There is no retail space at ground level at all. Chater Garden and Statue Square are beside it, which is why the upper floors look out over open ground rather than into another tower.
Central station is 250 metres away, three minutes on foot, for the Island and Tsuen Wan lines, and The Executive Centre points visitors to Exit J3. Hong Kong station is 630 metres, eight minutes, for the Airport Express and the Tung Chung line.
The Executive Centre holds Level 16, a single floor of 8,342 sq ft net, with one meeting room. It describes the outlook as unobstructed, with open space and the harbour in view. The furnished rooms run from one person to past twenty. It is a service agreement, not a lease, running three months at the shortest with two months' deposit and three months' notice. A room for one is HK$10,000 a month and a room for four is HK$40,000. A seat in the members lounge is HK$7,500, and the floor has a pantry, IT support and access at any hour.
A visitor walks into a club building, not a mall. Prince's Building and the Mandarin Oriental are across Chater Road, both on the covered Central walkway, so only the crossing is in the weather. For shops under the office and an MTR exit in the building, China Building sits on top of Central Exit D1 with a retail podium. Lunch runs from the dai pai dongs on Stanley Street to the restaurants in IFC Mall. We arrange the viewing and the negotiation, and the operator pays our fee.
