The operator
Capital opened its first Hong Kong business centre in 1995, at Chinachem Johnston Plaza in Wan Chai. It was one of the first chains to bring the business centre model to the city.
It has traded for over thirty years and runs centres in Hong Kong only. The company trades as Fortune Business Service (HK) Limited. It holds government licence TC006161 as a trust and company service provider. That is the licence Hong Kong requires to form and administer companies.
For a tenant, that means the firm renting you the room can also set up your company and file its accounts. One supplier, one contract, and the office and the paperwork start on the same day.
Twelve buildings across nine districts, eight on Hong Kong Island and four in Kowloon.
Central has two: Asia Standard Tower and the V Heun Building. Wan Chai has two: On Hong Commercial Centre on Hennessy Road and Hopewell Centre. Causeway Bay has two: Leighton Centre and the Mc Donald Building. The last two on the Island are United Centre in Admiralty and Tung Hip Commercial Building in Sheung Wan.
In Kowloon there are four. Chow Tai Fook Centre on Nathan Road in Mong Kok is five minutes from Yau Ma Tei station. Pioneer Centre in Prince Edward is three minutes from the station, with eight floors of shops and restaurants below the offices. Ritz Plaza in Tsim Sha Tsui is four minutes from Jordan. Energy Plaza on Granville Road in Tsim Sha Tsui East is nine minutes from East Tsim Sha Tsui.
Tung Hip Commercial Building is the shortest walk of the twelve. It stands on top of Sheung Wan station at Exit A1, on the corner of Des Voeux Road Central and Hillier Street.
Three of the buildings are ones people already know. Hopewell Centre is the round tower on Queen's Road East, 64 storeys and 222 metres, finished in 1980 as Hong Kong's first circular skyscraper. United Centre sits directly above Admiralty station, 35 storeys served by fifteen passenger lifts, with a covered footbridge link into the rest of Admiralty. Leighton Centre is 28 storeys above the Leighton Road shops, three minutes from Causeway Bay station.
The two Central addresses are 400 metres apart on the same street. Asia Standard Tower is 23 storeys at the junction of Queen's Road Central and Pottinger Street, above the Lane Crawford floors. The V Heun Building is 22 storeys further west, where Queen's Road Central meets Graham Street and its market.
Each centre has a staffed reception, with a business lounge and a pantry behind it. The offices are small enclosed rooms off that shared space, for one to fifteen people, fitted with ergonomic furniture. The finish is practical rather than designed, and the money goes into the address and the service.
Every centre comes with 24 hour access, air conditioning in office hours, unlimited internet, meeting room access, and mail and fax handling. Entry is by fingerprint or IC card, and the common areas are filmed around the clock. Furniture and utilities are in the rent.
Capital is very good at providing:
**A direct telephone line in every room.** Each office gets its own fixed line, answered by the reception team in your company's name. Most operators dropped the fixed line years ago. For companies whose callers are banks, regulators or mainland suppliers, a Hong Kong number that a person picks up still carries weight.
**Company formation and accounts from the same people.** Capital sells Hong Kong company registration, company secretarial work, accounting and tax filing alongside the office. A new company can be incorporated and housed in one place, on one contract.
**A choice of street, not just a district.** Twelve buildings across nine districts is a wide spread for an operator this size. Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay each have two addresses, so you can sit on the side of the district your clients are already on.
A seat in a private office starts at HK$2,623 a month at Chow Tai Fook Centre in Mong Kok. The highest opening price is HK$5,000, at the V Heun Building in Central. The service is the same in both. What changes is the address and the walk from the station.
A room for four runs from HK$7,780 at Asia Standard Tower to HK$20,000 at the V Heun Building. Both of those are in Central, 400 metres apart.
Capital sells private rooms only. There is no coworking floor at any of the twelve centres.
Meeting rooms are hired by the hour at every centre, not given as a monthly allowance.
The minimum term is three months. After that the contract runs monthly or yearly, rather than the three year lease a conventional office needs. The deposit is two months and the notice period is three months.
Capital Business Centre suits small teams that want a real Hong Kong address at a low monthly cost. The twelve buildings differ from each other.
That covers a lot of people. New companies, firms of one to fifteen, representative offices of overseas businesses, and anyone who wants a room with a door in a named building.
It also suits people starting a Hong Kong company from nothing. Capital can register the company, act as its secretary, file its accounts and give it an office. That is several jobs off a founder's list in the first month.
[Metro Workspace](/operators/metro-workspace/) and [Garage Society](/operators/garage-society/) put more design into the space. [The Executive Centre](/operators/executive-centre/) is the premium end of the Hong Kong market. Capital suits companies that want a small private room, in a district they have picked, with the company paperwork handled by the same people.
