About The Hive
Who The Hive Are
The Hive opened its first space in Wan Chai in 2012. Constant Tedder founded it.
It now runs eighteen spaces across Asia Pacific, inside a group of about 41 in eleven cities.
For a tenant, that means your membership works at the other Hive locations, and at the group's spaces around the region, without paying twice.
Where They Are In Hong Kong
Seven centres across five districts. Three are in Kennedy Town, at the western end of Hong Kong Island. The other four are one each in Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Sai Ying Pun and Lai Chi Kok.
Six of the seven are on Hong Kong Island. The seventh is in Lai Chi Kok, in west Kowloon, on Wing Ming Street.
The Hive at Studios and The Hive at On Seven are a minute from Kennedy Town station. The Hive Kennedy Town is seven minutes from HKU station, one stop along. The Phoenix Building in Wan Chai is three minutes from Wan Chai station. The Hive at V Point is four minutes from Causeway Bay station.
The Hive at Poho sits on Po Hing Fong in Sai Ying Pun, seven minutes from the station. The Hive took the site over from WeWork in 2024 rather than building a new one.
What The Spaces Are Like
There is no single house style. Kennedy Town, On Seven and Studios are converted warehouse floors, light filled and informal. Wan Chai is five floors of the Phoenix Building, with a sun terrace on the 21st floor planted with palms. Poho runs to about 15,000 square feet over four floors, seating more than 250, with an event space for 60. None of it is Grade A tower space.
Every centre has fast wifi, free coffee, phone booths, printing, a hosted reception and a mailbox locker. Community events run through the week. Full time members get in 24 hours a day.
Three features stand out:
**A photography studio, a fashion studio and a workshop.** Members at Kennedy Town book them alongside the working space. This suits people who shoot product, run a small label or build prototypes.
**Outdoor space, and a room to run an event in.** Wan Chai has a sun terrace on the 21st floor, planted with palms. Poho has an event space for 60. Members book it instead of hiring a venue.
**Three centres in one neighbourhood.** Kennedy Town has three. If you outgrow one floor, the next is a few minutes' walk and nobody's commute changes.

That covers startups, freelancers, creative and media businesses, small international teams, and companies from one person to about twenty. What they have in common is wanting the space to say something about them. They also want to meet the other tenants.
It also suits companies whose team size moves. Every centre sells space by the person as well as private rooms. You can add two people this month and take a bigger room next quarter without changing your address.
